“Jagannath now belongs to Jamshedpur”, says President Murmu

Jamshedpur: President Droupadi Murmu recently brought a wave of spiritual energy to the Steel City. While laying the foundation stone for the Shri Shri Jagannath Temple in Kadma, she made a historic declaration: “Jagannath now belongs to Jamshedpur.”

The ceremony, held on Marine Drive, marks the beginning of a ₹100-crore project that includes a temple and a Spiritual and Cultural Charitable Centre.

A Landmark of Equality and Social Harmony

During her address, the President emphasized that the court of Lord Jagannath is a place of absolute inclusivity. She reminded the gathering that the Lord of the Universe recognizes no caste or barriers.

  • Inclusivity: In this temple, everyone sits and eats together, regardless of background.

  • Historical Unity: The President highlighted how both tribal communities and kings have historically protected the Jagannath legacy.

  • A Shower of Blessings: She noted that the start of construction ensures that divine blessings will now fall directly upon Jamshedpur.

“Jagannath is accessible to all. He is the Lord of the entire universe and is loved worldwide.” — President Droupadi Murmu

President Murmu explained that the new center is vital for building a strong nation. Specifically, she focused on how spirituality nourishes the soul just as food nourishes the body.

The Power of the Bhagavad Gita

She specifically pointed to the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita Learner Programme. She noted that these ancient teachings guide individuals toward moral success and an ideal life. According to the President, “Good youth build a strong nation,” and this center will be the foundation for that growth.

A Personal Request: The Importance of Girls’ Hostels

In a moving moment, the President made a significant suggestion to the Jagannath Trust. She urged them to build a girls’ hostel alongside the planned facilities for underprivileged students.

She shared a personal story to emphasize her point:

  • Personal Journey: The President revealed she could only finish her education because a girls’ hostel was available to her.

  • Empowerment: She stated that without such a facility, she would never have reached the highest office in the country.

State Leaders Welcome the Cultural Shift

Several top leaders joined the President to celebrate Jamshedpur’s new cultural identity:

  1. CM Hemant Soren: He expressed his gratitude to the Trust, noting that the center adds a deep cultural layer to the industrial city.

  2. Governor Santosh Gangwar: He observed that while the city is famous for Tata Steel, this project fulfills Jamsetji Tata’s vision of a city rich in spiritual values.

  3. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan: He remarked that the center will promote social equality across the region.

High-Security Deployment for the Visit

Because of the high-profile nature of the visit, the administration implemented a massive security plan. More than 4,000 police personnel and 125 magistrates secured the area. The city was divided into five specialized zones to ensure a smooth transition for the President’s 26-vehicle convoy.
