Jamshedpur: The Steel City is currently undergoing a massive transformation for Founder’s Day. To celebrate the 187th birth anniversary of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata on March 3, Jamshedpur will showcase advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) based theme lighting for the first time.

Technicians began testing the elaborate light installations at Jubilee Park on Wednesday evening. Consequently, the park already glows with a vibrant, festive energy ahead of the official inauguration.
The celebrations will officially begin on March 2, 2026. Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran will arrive in Jamshedpur to inaugurate the lighting at Jubilee Park.

Here is the timeline for the celebrations:
-
March 2: Official Lighting Inauguration at Jubilee Park.
-
March 3: Founder’s Day tributes and main ceremony at Tata Steel Works.
-
March 4: Maintenance day (lighting remains switched off).
-
March 5 – 6: Public viewing resumes for city residents.
-
March 7: Normal traffic movement returns to the park area.
One Vision, One Tata Steel: This Year’s Theme
For 2026, Tata Steel has selected the theme “One Vision—One Tata Steel.” Specifically, this theme aims to demonstrate the unity and shared future of all Tata Steel divisions and subsidiary units.
The city-wide decorations reflect this vision. Major roundabouts and roads, including Bistupur Main Road and the Sakchi-Sonari Link Road, are being decorated under this unified aesthetic.
How AI Technology is Changing the Celebration
While Jamshedpur has always been famous for its Founder’s Day lights, this year introduces a technological shift.
-
Dynamic Patterns: The AI systems allow lighting patterns to change color and shape in real-time.
-
Immersive Experience: The lights will adapt to specific movements and programmed themes, creating a motion-based visual spectacle.
-
Interactive Design: The AI-driven paths will guide visitors through Jubilee Park, making the experience more interactive than ever before.
Important Traffic and Safety Updates
To ensure a safe environment for residents, the district administration and Tata Steel have implemented strict rules for Jubilee Park:
-
Vehicular Ban: The main gates of Jubilee Park are now closed to all vehicles and will remain so until March 7.
-
Pedestrian Access: While vehicles are banned, pedestrians can still enter the park once it officially opens after the March 2nd inauguration.
-
Security Deployment: Additional security personnel are monitoring the park to protect the sensitive high-tech lighting equipment during the testing phase.
