Jamshedpur, June 14: The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) issued a fervent plea to East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, urging immediate action to reinstate the fire hydrant system in Jamshedpur markets. The call came in the wake of recent fire incidents in Sakchi and Burmamines markets, raising concerns over the safety of life and property.
Highlighting the critical need for fire prevention measures, Honorary General Secretary Manav Kedia emphasized the importance of restoring the fire hydrant system on a priority basis. President Vijay Anand Moonka underscored the potential catastrophic consequences of unchecked fires, stressing the vital role of the hydrant system in controlling such emergencies.
The proposed system would provide a crucial backup water supply to complement fire brigade efforts during emergencies, ensuring uninterrupted firefighting capabilities. Previously installed by Tata Steel, the dormant system now required immediate reactivation to bolster the city’s firefighting infrastructure.
The Chamber’s appeal extended to Tata Steel, JNAC, Jugsalai Municipality, and Mango Municipal Corporation, urging collaborative efforts to swiftly reinstate the fire hydrant system. Their collective action aimed to mitigate the risk of future fire tragedies and safeguard the well-being of Jamshedpur’s residents and businesses.
