Jamshedpur, September 18: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy has written to Jharkhand’s Finance Minister Dr. Rameshwar Oraon, sharing a video highlighting the deplorable condition of the hostel at MGM Medical College. In his letter, Roy emphasized that after RIMS, Ranchi, MGM Medical College and Hospital ranked second in the state. He expressed concern over the living conditions of the students, who had excelled in the NEET exam, but were forced to stay in poorly maintained hostels.
Despite repeated appeals from the students, including a visit by the Health Minister last year with promises of improvement, no progress has been made. The video shared by Saryu Roy illustrated the ongoing neglect and inadequate responses from authorities. He further pointed out that the college and hospital fell within the Health Minister’s constituency, making the situation even more concerning.
Roy urged the Finance Minister to allocate special funds for the repair of the hostels, suggesting either the use of a “contingency fund” or redirecting unutilized department funds to address the issue. He emphasized that action was urgently needed before the assembly elections were announced.
