Jamshedpur, August 25: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy delivered an electrifying address at the Sidhgora Town Hall, where over 2000 party workers gathered, surpassing the anticipated turnout of 1500. The enthusiastic crowd was urged by Roy to prepare for the upcoming assembly elections, highlighting the crucial role of grassroots workers in strengthening the party’s efforts.
Roy expressed profound gratitude to the workers for their steadfast commitment, especially during the Corona pandemic. He recounted how his office became a makeshift canteen, with workers risking their health to deliver food and raw grains to those in need. During his tenure, Roy has overseen more than Rs 156 crore in development projects funded by various departments, including Road Construction, Rural Development, and Urban Development.
Significant post-Corona infrastructure advancements were highlighted, including extending water and electricity services to areas outside Tata Steel’s lease and setting up a new water treatment plant for Bhuinyandih, Lalbhatta, and Babudih. Despite these achievements, Roy noted ongoing challenges with the Moharda Water Supply Scheme and announced the initiation of Phase-2 to improve water supply, advocating for direct sourcing from Chandil Dam.
Roy also addressed the need for a legal municipality in Jamshedpur, criticizing the current system’s entanglement with the illegal JNAC and calling for the appointment of a Deputy Commissioner as mandated by law. He further tackled land ownership issues, urging the government to overturn a 2018 notification restricting land leases.
In a forward-looking proposal, Roy introduced a drain-based development plan aimed at transforming Jamshedpur into a model city for cleanliness, akin to Indore. He called for special funds from the Urban Development Department and Tata Steel to enhance the city’s sanitation. Roy concluded with a call for Congress leaders to scrutinize their government and support his vision for Jamshedpur’s progress and cleanliness.
