Jamshedpur, March 26: State government’s SC, ST, Minority and Backward Classes Welfare Department has given approval for the construction of boundary walls around four Jahira Sthal (tribal religious places of worship) and a tribal graveyard under Jamshedpur East Assembly constituency. Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy had recommended the said projects under his local area development fund, sources said.
Sources said the department has allotted Rs 45.86 lakh to the East Singhbhum district administration for the said boundary construction work. Under the proposed plan, a boundary wall is to be constructed around the tribal graveyard, also known as masna sthal, situated at Babudih in Bhuiyandih, at a cost of Rs 11,16,600. Boundary walls would be constructed around Jahira Sthals situated in Birsanagar Zone No 6, Kondabasti and Golmuri Tuiladungri, sources said.
In this connection, the Secretary to the state government Kamal Kishore Sone has sent a letter to the Deputy Commissioner of Jamshedpur. As per the government directives, various basic civic amenities such as drinking water, multi-purpose hall, a raised platform for sitting, solar-backed power supply, parking facility, wall painting depicting rich tribal art of Jharkhand and walk way are also to be provided to the people at the tribal places of utilities.
Local residents had earlier met Saryu Roy and demanded boundary wall construction around Jahira Sthals and tribal graveyard. They said due to absence of boundary wall, the tribal places of worship and burial were under threat of being usurped by land encroachers.
