Jamshedpur, June 17: The construction of the spire (shikhar) of Shri Laxmi Narayan Temple in Cable Town, Golmuri, was formally inaugurated on Tuesday by Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy. Braving the rain, Roy personally ascended to a height of approximately 200 feet using bamboo scaffolding to perform the ceremonial puja and break a coconut to mark the beginning of the spire’s construction.

The event was attended by members of the Shri Laxmi Narayan Temple Restoration Committee, who accompanied the MLA during the climb.

Addressing the gathering, MLA Roy stated that the temple renovation had now entered its second phase, which included the construction of the main temple spire and underground areas. The project was expected to be completed within six months.

Roy shared his spiritual experience from the temple’s summit, saying he could see all of Cable Town from the top and envisioned that once completed, the temple would serve as a grand landmark with Shri Laxmi Narayan overseeing the entire city.

He highlighted that the temple’s construction had remained incomplete for 30 years, and it was under his leadership last year that the renovation resumed. Idols of Shri Laxmi Narayan, Lord Ganesh, Shivling, Bajrangbali, and others were installed and consecrated.

Roy added that the temple was set to become a major spiritual center in the city, preserving traditional practices. A Veda Anushilan Kendra would also be established to train priest and public service initiatives including food and education support for the underprivileged would be launched from the temple premises.
