Jamshedpur, March 17: Republican Party of India (RPI) activists staged demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in the city on Thursday against the caste-based reservations. Activists from West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand participated in the demonstration.
State secretary Hema Ghosh said that from many decades caste-based reservation system is prevalent in the country.
While few people are taking advantage of this, a large section is still being deprived of the benefits.
Reservations based on caste and religion prevailing in India is a question on the validity of the Constitution, which advocates secularism.
