Jamshedpur, August 2 : The dream of Better India can only be achieved through Literate India—without literacy, nothing constructive can be achieved not only in India but anywhere in the world.
Rotary India has taken up T.E.A.C.H programme with utmost importance after eradication of Polio. The aim is to make India literate by 2017.
Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West took up literacy mission with prime importance.
On 1st of August, a fresh batch of functional literacy class of 20 ladies was started at Rotary Deeksha centre, Sonari. President Rajender Sachdev, inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. He also distributed literacy kit to ladies.
President Rajender and other members stressed on the importance of being literate, importance of been able to read what is written in paper, importance of writing to express one�s mind and most importantly to sharpen one�s mind. Everybody expressed hope that these ladies will represent positive & better India.
It may be noted that annually almost 100 ladies go through different free functional literacy classes which lasts about 3-4months and start their new lives with basic education. At the end of course certificates will be given to pass out candidates. Teacher Varun will take care of classes.
