Rotary aims to promote literacy across India
Jamshedpur, Sept 23: Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City welcomed Past International Rotary President Shekhar Mehta and Past International Director Kamal Sanghvi, along with spouse Sonal Sanghvi, to a captivating rendezvous event held at a hotel in Jamshedpur on Thursday.
The event, which combined informative insights with an element of fun, featured a talk show focusing on Rotary and its global impact. Mehta and Sanghvi addressed the audience, highlighting the core values that unite Rotary members worldwide, including service, fellowship, diversity, integrity, and leadership. These values serve as guiding principles, shaping Rotary’s mission and actions.

The talk show proved to be a resounding success, with the charismatic and knowledgeable leaders captivating the audience. They shared anecdotes from their personal Rotary journeys, discussing the challenges they encountered and how determination and resilience helped them overcome these obstacles.
Both stalwarts underscored the significance of “service above self,” a fundamental Rotary value, and encouraged all present to contribute to society in their own unique ways, emphasizing that every small action makes a difference. The event featured interactive segments such as a rapid-fire round and a game of Dum Charades centered around Rotary themes, engaging the distinguished leaders and attendees alike.
Shekhar Mehta and Kamal Sanghvi have embarked on a new mission within Rotary, aiming to promote literacy across India. Their mission calls on every individual to help at least one person become literate.
For the Program Chair Alpa Parikh, AG Hetal Adesara, President Amrita Vakharia, Secretary Preeti Khara, Joint Secretary Sukanya Das, Treasurer Krishna Kharia Foundation Chair Deepak Dokania, and Udey Dhir, meeting these Rotary leaders and organizing this talk show was a profoundly enriching experience. It served as a reminder that leaders are not merely born; they are molded through life experiences, trials, tribulations, and, most importantly, a desire to make a positive impact.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from all seven Rotary Clubs of Jamshedpur and the Rotary Chaibasa Club, culminating in a delightful musical evening.
