Jamshedpur:- With the initiation of Road Safety Month in East Singhbhum district from January 15 to February 14, 2024, a concerted effort is underway to promote awareness and education on road safety. The awareness chariot, symbolizing this commitment, was ceremoniously flagged off from the Collectorate premises by District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri and Senior Superintendent of Police Kishore Kaushal.
The event saw the presence of key officials including Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jaideep Tigga, ADM Law and Order Rajeev Ranjan, DCLR Ravindra Gagarai, and others, showcasing a unified approach towards enhancing road safety measures.
District Magistrate Bhajantri emphasized the importance of the awareness chariot’s tour across different blocks, aimed at enlightening people about the significance of adhering to road safety practices. Throughout the month-long campaign, various initiatives were undertaken, including quiz competitions on road safety for school children, health checkups for bus drivers and conductors, campaigns against overloading, and inspections of two-wheeler and four-wheeler vehicles. Additionally, pamphlets and street plays were utilized to effectively communicate road safety guidelines to the public.
The district is placing special emphasis on educating both drivers and pedestrians about road safety rules, with the primary objective of preventing accidents and ensuring public safety. District Magistrate Bhajantri issued an appeal, urging individuals below 18 years of age to refrain from driving two-wheelers and four-wheelers. He also stressed the importance of driving cautiously in foggy conditions, installing reflectors on vehicles, and consistently using helmets and seat belts for protection.
This comprehensive approach seeks to foster a culture of responsible and safe road usage, ultimately working towards reducing accidents and safeguarding the well-being of the community.
