Right to vote a great leveler, must use it: Jamshedpur DC Vijaya Jadhav

National Voters Day celebrated at Ravindra Bhavan

Jamshedpur, Jan 25: National Voters Day was celebrated in East Singhbhum with enthusiasm at Ravindra Bhavan, Sakchi. A district level programme was organized on this occasion by the district administration. Deputy Commissioner cum District Returning Officer Vijaya Jadhav and other senior district officials were present during the programme.

In her address, the DC said all voters should know their voting rights, understand it and utilize it to strengthen the democracy. She said the adult franchise was not only a democratic right but also a great leveler. She further said that Indian is the only country which gave women the right to vote soon after getting Independence. Voters determine the future of the country as their precious vote elects policy makers, she said.

The DC said all adults should exercise their voting rights and spread awareness among others to do the same. New voters should have enthusiasm to exercise their voting rights, she said.

Also present on the occasion, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Law and Order Nand Kishore Lal said the voters of rural areas were much ahead than their urban counterparts when it came to exercising the right to vote. He said the new voters should exercise their voting rights.

New voters were provided Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC) during today’s programme. District election officials and staff were felicitated for good work.
