Jamshedpur, Mar 10: The re-development of Tatanagar Railway Station, initiated by the Railway Board with the laying of its foundation stone, faces a significant hurdle in the form of illegal encroachments on railway land. Despite the order for re-development, the Railway administration is challenged by the presence of unauthorized structures and encroachments.

Illegal structures, including houses and shops, have become a major concern for the Railways, obstructing the planned re-development of Tatanagar Station. The removal of these encroachments has proven to be a complex task, requiring coordinated efforts from the district administration and the railway authorities.

One of the areas affected by illegal encroachments is around Tatanagar Station and stretches from the Railway Traffic Colony to Kitadih. While the Railway administration had demolished illegal houses in 1998, the encroachments have resurfaced over the years. The situation is further complicated by the presence of encroachments in front of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) police station, raising questions about the effectiveness of security measures.

The encroachment issue extends to Baghbeda Housing Colony, and efforts to remove illegal structures have faced challenges. The Railway administration had previously demolished quarters around Baghbeda Railway High School, citing their dilapidated condition. However, new encroachments have emerged in the area.

The persistence of illegal encroachments poses a significant obstacle to the planned re-development, and addressing this issue requires a multi-faceted approach.
