Jamshedpur: Ravidas Samaj East Singhbhum requested deputy commissioner for leniency of rules to avail caste certificates on the basis of Khatiyan (land deed).
A delegation of the organization has submitted a memorandum to DC on the issue stating that those who do not possess land are not getting caste certificates from the block office.
The memorandum stated that department of Administrative Reform and Raj Bhasa in its letter on June 19, 2008 had amended the existing rules and given alternatives that no longer required submission of Khatiyan while availing caste certificates.
Besides, Justice of High Court DN Patel on July 13 also passed an order under which the rules of producing Khatiyan for caste certificates were quashed. But the beneficiaries are still not getting benefits of the order though the rules have already been softened.
The Ravidas Samaj said that the organization could take up onus for identification proofs of its members for issuance of caste certificates. Surendra Prasad, B Ram, Shyam Lal, Hari Balak Prasad, Vindeshwar Ram and others comprised the delegation.
