Jamshedpur, March 3: Tata Sons Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata on Friday said the company will continue to reach out to people. He extended greetings to people briefly in Hindi and remembered the city from where he started his professional career and then gave his address in English.
�I am here after 5 years and am delighted to be back in Jamshedpur. I started my career here and lived here for 6 years and it always gives me a nostalgic feeling whenever I visit the city�, said Tata after paying floral tributes to the JN Tata at Postal Park in Bistupur.
It’s wonderful to see the spirit of Jamshedpur and the enthusiasm in what we are doing. It’s also a pleasure for me to be here on the first founder’s day celebration which Chandra (N Chandrasekaran) is attending. He will of course attend many more, the former chairman said.
�The company is in great hands and I look forward to hearing about the progress that Jamshedpur and Tata steel make under Chandra’s leadership�, Tata added.
�Jamshedpur is a city that has shown road of progress to the country in its own way. The founder has left behind a legacy and that legacy is being embraced by the people of Jamshedpur.
In this year and the years ahead, what Jamshedpur will do for the country what it will lead the country to do will be not only what Tata steel and other industries will do but what you do as citizens of Jamshedpur to leave it clean and progressive.
It gives me great happiness to be here I want to voice the fact that great responsibility for all of you to keep the pride in the city what it is,� said the corporate giant.
Ratan Tata introduced the new chairman of the group to the citizens. ‘Today I have a particularly happy task of introducing Chandra to all of you. He is your new chairman with an impeccable record of progress in TCS. Chandra will lead this city and this company to new heights.
It a matter of great pride to us that an internal person will now head the entire Tata Group and his leadership will lead the group to new levels of progress and growth,� he said.
The former chairman handed over the baton to Chandra and wished him luck and asked the citizens to give the same love and affection he has been receiving all the years gone by.
