Chandil: Chowka police sent a youth, identified as Ravi Layak, a resident of Janta village, to jail on Wednesday in connection with a rape case against him.
The accused had raped a 25 year-old girl when she had gone to graze a buffalo in the nearby fields.
She had later lodged an FIR against the accused with the Chowka police station after the panchayat members failed to do justice in the case.
