Raid on illegal stone mining in Musabani forest area

Jamshedpur: The Musabani Forest Department team conducted raids after receipt of information of illegal mining of rocks in the Durgata range. A 50 cft chunk of rock boulder was seized.

 The raid was led by Musabani forest area officer Pradip Kumar Goswami and included Vanpal Naresh Chandra Mahto, forest guard Mirza Hansda, Niwas Hembram, Hemant Tudu, Raksha Mines forest area guard Ranju Soren and others. Kandoni Soren and Sumitra Kisku, president of Mahila Van Samiti Musabani were also in the raiding team. In-charge Vanpal Naresh Chandra Mahato questioned the local villagers.

It was informed in the inquiry that illegal stone quarrying in this area was being conducted Shankar Kalindi. Shankar Kalindi has been booked under various sections of the Indian Forest Act 1927 for illegal mining on forest land.

The Musabani Forest Department has started action in the form of raids to stop illegal activities including mining in the area. Forest area officer Pradip Kumar Goswami said that the stringent action would be taken against those involved in illegal quarrying in the forest area. Regular patrolling is being conducted to stop such activity.
