Mail News Service Jamshedpur, August 7: The outgoing president of Jusco Shramik Union, Raghunath Pandey submitted a written reply to the Deputy Labor Commissioner (DLC) on the general body meeting organized by the union in March 2020. At the same time, on the questions raised by the opposition on the general assembly, a day had been fixed for submitting written replies by August 25. In the written reply given by Raghunath Pandey, he claimed that the entire process of the general body meeting had been constitutionally approved. Along with his reply, he also handed over a copy of the attendance of 400 union members. Raghunath Pandey was targeted by the opposition allegedly for the manner in which the general body meeting was called and conducted. The leaders of the opposition, including SL Das, the former general secretary of the union, alleged that he got his co-option done in his own presence whereas according to the constitution, the external member who is to be co-opted cannot be present in the general meeting. The opposition had made a written complaint in the matter to the Deputy Labor Commissioner. When directed by the DLC to tender a written reply to the allegations, Raghunath Pandey had asked for one month's time to submit his answer. But the Deputy Labor Commissioner had directed that the reply should be tendered by August 25. It may be mentioned that the Deputy Labor Commissioner had sent a letter to Raghunath Pandey several times in the matter and sought answers, but he alkways sought time. Once he said that the Labor Department could not interfere in the matter as it was sub-judice pending in the Jharkhand High Court.
