Jamshedpur, Dec 19: Former Chief Minister and BJP national vice president Raghubar Das Monday demanded a CBI probe into the murder of Hindu leader Kamal Dev Giri of Chakradharpur. He has sent a letter to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah in this regard and informed him about the entire incident. He said harshest punishment should be ensured for the killers and conspirators of this case.
“The deceased was a popular and young Hindu leader of Chakradharpur. He used to participate in social, religious and cultural programmes in his area and was close to the people as he was a grassroots level leader. A particular community could not tolerate his popularity and they considered him an obstacle in their path. They threw a bottle bomb on Giri on 12th November last when he was returning home after meeting senior BJP leaders in Chakradharpur,” Das told Shah in the letter.
Das said unidentified criminals had threatened to kill Giri 15 days before his murder. Local police station was informed about the threat and security was sought by Giri for his family. But the district administration did not show sensitivity, resulting in Giri’s murder, said Das.
