Jamshedpur, May 8: The vibrant spirit of Kobi Guru Rabindranath Tagore’s 163rd birth anniversary was celebrated with fervor at the Rabindra Bhawan Complex in Sakchi, the city’s hub of art and culture.
The festivities began with a Prabhat Pheri, commencing from the Tagore Society yard at 5:30 am and culminating at the Rabindra Bhawan complex, traversing through prominent landmarks of the city. Students and teachers from the Tagore School of Arts and Tagore Academy participated in the procession.
Tagore Society President Dr. H.S. Pal and Vice President Dr. Gautam Dasgupta emphasized Tagore’s profound impact on humanity through his art and literary creations, marked by kindness, compassion, and a deep connection with nature.

The evening witnessed a cultural extravaganza, with performances by students and teachers of various branches of the Tagore School of Arts, highlighting Tagore’s creations. Notable presentations included the rendition of Rabindra Sangeet by students of the Tagore School of Arts, evoking the essence of Tagore’s timeless compositions.
Tagore Society General Secretary Ashis Chowdhury emphasized the importance of preserving Tagore’s legacy to connect the younger generation with their rich cultural heritage. The celebration will continue with further events, including dance performances and musical renditions, showcasing the enduring influence of Kobi Guru Rabindra Nath Tagore on Thursday, 9th May.
