Jamshedpur, Aug. 28 : Kolkata-based headquarters of South Eastern Railway ( SER) is planning to introduce a puja special train between Howrah and Mumbai via Tatanagar railway station. Last year too, a puja special train was introduced between the two destinations-Howrah and Mumbai via Tatanagar for clearing the rush of passengers.
The computerised reservation centre at Tatanagar is witnessing a huge rush of passengers with waiting list crossing the 100 mark for most long-distance mail and express trains headed towards New Delhi, Mumbai , Patna and other destinations. The officials at the ticket reservation counter here said that in almost all the long distance trains waiting list has virtually reached the �no room� stage.
Sources at the computerised reservation centre revealed that long waiting lists is seen in most long distance mail and express trains bound for New Delhi, Mumbai and other destinatsions during the festive days. This year Durga Puja will be celebrated in the first week of October.
Reservation lists for Howrah-Mumbai Geetanjali Express, Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Superfast Express, Howrah-Ahmedabad Express and Howrah-Pune Azad Hind Superfast Express shows long waiting list between October 1 and 4. Long waiting list is also seen in these trains between October 9 and 12, as those who comes from other places leave steel city, their native place after the puja vacation.
Officiating chief reservation supervisor P. K. Prasad admitted the rush and said. “People have started booking their tickets much in advance. The ticket booking rush in Kolkata-bound trains will gain momentum after some time.”
� Durga Puja is one of the most important festivals of east India. Every year the rush of passengers increases. I think the authorities should make proper arrangements to ensure hassle free travel,� said U K Srivastava, a senior functionary of Chottanagpur Passengers� Association.
