Jamshedpur, Nov 8: Kerala Public School (KPS), Kadma, showcased the spirit of athletic excellence and teamwork at its 24th Annual Sports Meet, held at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Saturday. The grand event celebrated sportsmanship, discipline, and holistic development among students.
The event began with great enthusiasm as Chief Guest Kunal Sarangi, Central Spokesperson of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), was warmly received by the school fraternity. Other dignitaries present included Hassan Imam, executive, Health and Wellness, Sports Division, Tata Steel ; Firoze Khan, Vice President of JOGGA; Manorema Nair, Chairperson; Sharat Chandran Nair, Director; Lakshmi R, Academic Director; and Principal Sharmila Mukherjee.
Following the ceremonial welcome and General Salute, Sarangi hoisted the school flag and declared the meet open. The event began with a colourful march past by the four school houses—Peace, Prosperity, Valour, and Wisdom—displaying impeccable coordination and pride. The athletes’ oath and lighting of the torch further infused the atmosphere with sportsmanship and enthusiasm.
Over 62 events were held throughout the day, featuring students competing in track and field, team games, and fun races. Parents, teachers, and staff members also joined in friendly contests, adding to the spirit of community celebration.
During the prize distribution ceremony, the Chief Guest, along with school leaders, honoured the winners for their dedication and outstanding performances. Prosperity House emerged as the Overall Champion, drawing thunderous applause from all present.
Principal Sharmila Mukherjee expressed heartfelt gratitude in her Vote of Thanks, appreciating the efforts of students, staff, and guests.
The event concluded with the ceremonial flag down and the National Anthem, marking a memorable end to the spirited day.
