Jamshedpur: City police have begun investigation into the alleged recovery of a pistol from the possession of one Meraj Anwar near Masih Complex, Mango. The probe was started on the orders of SSP Anoop T Mathew. Cops will try to find out as to who is the real owner of the gun. The accused Meraj Anwar was sent to jail on Wednesday.
Shama Bano, mother of the accused, met the SSP with her relatives and alleged that her son was booked on fabricated charges. She alleged that one Yusuf Patel, a resident of Mango, had an old dispute with her son. It was Yusuf who gave wrong information to police and got Meraj arrested, said the woman.
Shama Bano demanded a probe to identify the real owner of the gun. She said her son had been jailed at the behest of Yusuf Patel.
The SSP sent DSP KN Mishra to the spot where the gun was recovered. Meanwhile, Yusuf Patel alleged that Meraj and his friend Sunny had come to his place with the gun. He said Sunny had fled the scene while Meraj got caught by police.
