Potka: To gear up for the upcoming Kharif cultivation season, Potka MLA Sanjeev Sardar launched the state government’s subsidized paddy seed distribution campaign on Tuesday. The launch ceremony, held at the Asanbani LAMPUS (Large Area Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society) in Dorakasai, saw a large turnout of panchayat representatives, cooperative officials, and local farmers.
The initiative aims to eliminate procurement bottlenecks, ensuring that farmers receive high-quality seeds right at the onset of the sowing season.
During the event, officials outlined the distribution framework designed to cover the entire Potka block. Paddy seeds will be distributed through six strategic LAMPUS centres across the block: Asanbani, Kowali, Tangrain, Potka, Harina, and Gangadih. The seeds are being made available at a subsidized rate of just ₹21 per kg. The department has already dispatched an initial lot of 100 quintals of paddy seeds to these centres to ensure that early sowing proceeds without any delays.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Sanjeev Sardar said, “We are making sure that top-tier seeds, fertilizers, and agricultural facilities reach farmers right on time to boost yield and enhance rural income.”
The MLA also urged the farming community to adopt modern agricultural techniques to make farming a more lucrative venture. He issued strict directives to the Agriculture Department and LAMPUS management to maintain absolute transparency, ensuring that the benefits reach every single eligible farmer without any administrative delays.
