Jamshedpur, Sept. 1: Concerned over rising cases of criminal activities police will increase security at the newly-constructed Dobo-Kanderbera road at Kapali in Chandil.
Seraikela-Kharsawan district police has started patrolling of the 7 Kms-long Dobo-Kanderbera road which of late has become crime-prone.
The decision was taken after a teen-aged girl was abducted by a gang of criminals before being gangraped in a jungle along the said road on Wednesday night.
OC, Kapali thana out-post (TOP) Satyadeo Singh said the patrolling on Dobo-Kanderbera road has begun today from 8 am.
” There have been several criminal activities. We have started the patrolling for keeping a vigil on the road so that commuters as well as the truck and trailer operators may feel secured while negotiating through it. The step of patrolling was initiated at the instruction of Seraikela-Kharsawan superintendent of police, Karthik S,” said Singh. He said the patrolling will continue till 10 pm every day.
Singh pointed out that during the patrolling the police party will intercept anyone moving suspiciously on the road or any group of people assembled on or along the road.
The patrolling party consists of four armed police and a havildar (head-constable).
SP, Seraikela-Kharsawan said that he would shortly revamp the Kapali TOP and the patrolling is just a beginning for strengthening policing in this part of the district which too close to the steel city.
The new bridge in river Subernarekha linking Sonari with Dobo in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district has been up at a cost of Rs 41 crores. The foundation stone for the ambitious project was laid by chief minister Raghubar Das, leading the Kolkata-based construction agency, Royal Infratech Pvt Ltd to go ahead with the construction work.
With the bridge becoming operational, the distance between Chandil from Jamshedpur has reduced by about 30 kms as the commuters will not have to go to Chandil — the route for going to Ranchi — via Dimna Chowk. About 10,000 vehicles, including trucks, trailers and car move toward Chandil from Jamshedpur via Dimna Chowk on the NH-33 for the destination like Chandil, Chowka and Ranchi beside other places in Bihar.
“As per the situation and understanding the importance of safety of the commuters, we need a TOP at the Sonari side urgently. We had, therefore, requested Tata Steel for setting up a three-room facility for a new TOP there at Domuhani,” said an official.
