Airstrikes target village near Sanaa, leaving 11 dead

Airstrikes killed at least 11 people on Saturday in a village near Yemen’s capital of Sanaa.
Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported the casualties and blamed Saudi warplanes for the devastating attack.
Escalating hostilities continue to plunge the war-torn country into further violence and turmoil.
The airstrikes targeted and destroyed five residential houses in Ash Sharyah village, located in Bani Hushaysh district.
Women and children were among the dead retrieved from the destroyed homes, according to news reports.
The head of the district’s health office confirmed that rescue teams recovered 11 bodies from the rubble.
He added that the death toll remains preliminary as search and recovery operations actively continue in the area.
Saudi warplanes launched two additional strikes that directly targeted rescue workers operating at the site.
The aircraft also struck key roads leading to the village to disrupt movement and assistance.
Military aircraft continued to fly low over the heavily targeted region throughout the afternoon.
Independent sources could not immediately verify the reported casualties and destruction in the village.
The Saudi Arabia-led coalition has not yet issued any official comment regarding the incident.
A local resident stated that warplanes circled over Sanaa before a series of powerful explosions rocked the capital.
These latest strikes followed a Friday attack on a crowded market in southwestern Taiz province.
That market attack killed at least 30 people and left eight others seriously wounded.
Both the Houthis and government authorities traded fierce accusations over who held responsibility for the massacre.
Hostilities between Houthi fighters and Saudi-supported government forces have intensified dramatically across multiple fronts.
Coalition jets have launched frequent airstrikes while Houthis have dispatched missile and drone strikes toward Saudi territory.
On Wednesday, coalition forces intercepted three incoming drones that targeted areas inside Saudi Arabia.
One drone flew directly over the western Mecca region before defense forces intercepted it.
Houthi forces claimed responsibility for firing drones and ballistic missiles at a Saudi airport and airbase.
Coalition spokesman Turki Al-Maliki confirmed the interception of a drone over Mecca on social media.
He later announced that forces destroyed two additional drones over the Eastern Province and southern regions.
Military operations on both sides continue to exacerbate the ongoing humanitarian crisis across Yemen.
