Gamharia, Feb 28: In view of the oncoming Holi festival, peace committee meetings were organized at the Gamharia and Kandra police stations to ensure peaceful celebration of the festival of colours.
The peace committee meeting organized at the Gamharia police station was chaired by OC Sushma Kumari. She appealed to all members of the committee and to the general citizens to celebrate Holi in a cordial and amicable manner. She said, “However, a strict vigil would be kept on hoodlums and other antisocial elements. A hawk eye will be kept on trouble mongers by arranging special vigilance at all public places including at crossings and road intersections. Peace will be maintained on all streets and localities of the district. No mischievous element will be spared.”
The Gamharia PS OC also urged citizens to refrain from organizing DJ events nor play music on high volume. “Do not forcibly apply colour on anyone, don’t drink and drive and make sure that Holi ka Dahan is performed at safe distances from overhead power wires.”
The suggestions offered by peace committee members were noted and OC Sushma Kumari assured that these suggestions would be implemented. Those present in the meeting also included Gamharia Zonal Officer Manoj Kumar, BDO Maruti Minj, Twenty Point Block President Chhayakant Gorai, JMM leader Amrit Mahto, Chief Sukumati Mardi along with a large number of peace committee members, police officers and local people. Another peace committee meeting was organized at Kandra that was chaired by police station OC Inspector Rajendra Prasad Mahato. The meeting decided that citizens would cooperate with the police to ensure peace and tranquility in all Kandra localities for Holi festivities. All police officers of Kandra PS, Zila Parishad members including Pinky Mandal, Honi Singh Munda, Jaipal Singh, Lalbabu Mahato, Ajit Sen and a large number of Kandra residents participated in the meeting.
