Jamshedpur: The District Industry Center’s Handicraft Resource-cum-Development Center, located at the Old Court Campus in Jamshedpur, inaugurated a Patkar painting training camp today. The event was graced by General Manager of the District Industry Center, Ravi Shankar Prasad, who encouraged the trainees and shared insights about potential employment opportunities in the sector.
Key officials present at the inauguration included EoDB Manager Syed Mudassir Anwar, District Entrepreneur Coordinator Manju Minz, Patkar painting instructor Kishore Gayan, and coordinator Ramat Mardi, alongside the trainees and other staff members.
The General Manager informed the attendees that a total of 30 women trainees would be receiving training in Patkar painting. Of these, 15 participants have been selected from Amadubi and surrounding areas, while the remaining 15 have been chosen from Jamshedpur.
The training program will run for two months, covering 50 working days. In addition to receiving all necessary training materials, the trainees will also be provided with a daily stipend of Rs. 150.
The General Manager expressed confidence that after completing this training, some skilled painters would be linked to Jharkhand’s Hunar portal, giving them a unique platform to showcase their talents. He also hoped that this initiative would inspire more women and young girls to come forward and learn this rapidly diminishing art form, thus contributing to its preservation.
