Jamshedpur: The JEE Advanced 2026 examination is set to commence on May 17, with hundreds of Steel City’s top-ranking students entering the final stretch of intensive mock tests and revision to secure a seat in India’s premier IITs.
The registration process for JEE Advanced 2026 commenced on April 23 and will continue till May 2. Hundreds of students from the Kolhan region who secured a rank in the top 2.5 lakh of JEE Main can apply through the official website. The deadline for submitting the application fee is set for May 4. Experts believe that the number of students from Jamshedpur selected for top institutes like IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi this year could surpass previous records.
As the exam date approaches, preparations have intensified in the city’s coaching hubs—Sakchi, Bistupur, and Telco. In this final phase, students are focusing heavily on mock tests and previous 10-year question papers. Specifically, strategies for solving complex problems in Mathematics and Physics are a priority. According to teachers, consistent practice and addressing weak areas will be the keys to success.
To assist students, there is a strong possibility that local examination centers will be established within Jamshedpur, sparing them from traveling long distances. The exam will be conducted in two shifts on May 17, 2026.
During registration, students are advised to keep digital copies of essential documents ready, such as Class 10 and 12 mark sheets, category certificates, and passport-size photographs. Candidates who apply successfully will be able to download their admit cards starting May 11. Local educators have advised students to exercise caution while filling out the form and to choose their institute preferences thoughtfully.
The Steel City has always shown great enthusiasm for engineering, and competition is expected to be even tougher this year. A fierce contest is anticipated for prestigious institutes like IIT Madras, Roorkee, and Kharagpur. Experts say that JEE Advanced is not just a test of subject knowledge, but also of time management and mental composure. Given the level of preparation among Jamshedpur’s students, the Kolhan region may once again create a new history of academic achievement.
