Jamshedopur, June 20 : Jamshedpurs very own Path, a Hindi Theatre group that was formed way back in 1996 and which, over the years, has travelled to several parts of the country with a number of its illustrious productions is now making its debut in Kolkata. The creative group, headed by Md. Nizam, will be staging Do Kaudi Ka Khel on June 26, 2019 at Gyan Manch, Kolkata.

Do Kaudi Ka Khel is a Hindi Play adapted from Bertolt Brechts The Three Penny Opera. This PATH production directed by Md. Nizam and written in Hindi by Parimal Dutta is not merely a translation of the original work but has been transformed to suit Indian sensibilities. The play which talks about social evils like corruption, bribery, hoarding and exploitation has been intelligently weaved in a comical satire in order to entertain the viewers as well as give them food for thought.

The Hindi play has a unique blend of Indian folk theatre and Western form and is creatively crafted to bring out the best from the original. Raising a voice against the white collared frauds of our so-called civilized society, Do Kaudi Ka Khel is an effort to shoulder the responsibility of a true citizen by way of honest stagecraft.

The play is being presented by Kolkata based English Theatre group Theatrecian in association with Take 5 Communications, also a Kolkata based company which is into film making and event management.

Take 5 Communications pioneered the now decade old annual short film festival of Jamshedpur SHORTS in support with SPPE, Tata Steel and Md. Nizam has been associated with the festival since its inception in 2008. I have known Md. Nizam for nearly twelve years now and have a huge respect for his work. I, for a long time wanted to see the group performing on a Kolkata stage but it never quite happened in all these years. Good we have made this possible now together much because of the support from Theatrecian which is a leading English Theatre group in Kolkata. I wish PATH all success in Kolkata and hope this process continues, expressed Tathagata Bhattacherjee, film maker and the Chief of Take 5 Communications.

The event is a dream come true for Md. Nizam who has always been keen to perform in Kolkata and the man from the steel city is sure to sweat it out to get an overwhelming response from the theatre loving city of joy.
