Jamshedpur, 20 June 2019: The 50th Urs (death anniversary) of Hazrat Abdur Rahim alias Chuna Shah Baba will be celebrated at his memorial based in Bistupur Market with reverence.
Under Islamic year, this year marks 50th anniversary and managing committee of Chuna Shah Baba Dargah is taking special steps to observe anniversary with devotion. The mystique and charm of the shrine draws people of all faiths throughout the year. Devotees from Punjab, Odisha, Bengal and Bihar are expected to participate in large numbers.
The 50th Urs will start with Qurankhani on June 22. This will be followed by Taqreer (speeches) on June 23. The observance will continue till June 25 that will involve a series of religious discourses.
S M Qutbuddin, general secretary of Dargah Committee said that Chuna Shah Baba Dargah is one of the holiest shrines in the city not only for Muslims but also for the people of other faiths who hold the saint in high esteem and reverence.
Chuna Shah is a living spirit of peace and harmony and enjoys respect and devotion ever since he set his holy feet in the city. As a machine operator of Tata Steel, he worked in the company for 18 years. According to legends, he used to sit while the machine used to start working on its own. When he left the company, he set up a small hut near Bistupur market. He died on 20th December, 1970. His devotees set up a memorial as he is worshiped by a large section of people across India including Punjab.
�Chuna Shah Baba has unquestionably been one of the greatest spiritual redeemers of human sufferings. He did several miracles and devotees still come in large number for their prayers. To the faithful and afflicted souls invoking his blessings, he has ever been a never-failing source of moral strength and spiritual enlightenment,� said the general secretary.
