Jamshedpur: On the second day of the Sri Ram Katha organized by Manas Satsang Samiti Tatanagar at Shiv Mandir in Golmuri Vijay Nagar, the narrator duo of Raghav-Madhav from Ujjain, explaining the chapter on Shiv-Sati, narrated the marriage of Shiv-Parvati and the meaning and essence of Sri Ram Naam.
Parvati, daughter of the King of Himalaya, who did penance for 12 years to get Lord Shiva as her husband, had to undergo a difficult test of her love set by the Sapt Rishis (Seven Sages). Having emerged successfully, Parvati was blessed by them.
On the episode of Shiv-Sati, Raghav-Madhav explained that Sati�s father Maharaja Daksh Prajapati had arranged a huge Yagna (fire worship) but had not invited Her and Lord Shiva. But Sati was bent on attending the religious ceremony and in spite of Lord Shiva urging Her not to go, She went. When She reached there, She saw Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and the other Gods present but was infuriated and felt humiliated at Her husband Lord Shiva not being invited. She flung herself into the holy fire.
The narrator duo mentioned that Sati was reborn as Parvati. Her mother was Maina. After a difficult penance of 12 years, She found Lord Shiva and got married to Him.
The Sri Ram Katha commenced on May 1 with the kalash Yatra taken out from Durga Mandir in Sitaramdera by a huge crowd of devotees with the majority being women and the procession taken out with the chant of Jai Sri Ram all along the route, culminated at the Shiv Mandir in Golmuri Vijaynagar. The priest said that the meaning of Shobha Yatra was good deeds. On the first day of discourse light was cast on Sri Ram Naam and Tulsidas� enlightenment.
On both days including today, Panchang Pujan was performed from 8 am. This ritual will be done under the supervision of different hosts each day. The first day on May 1, the host was Ram Babu Tiwary and today�s proceedings were hosted by Sashi Kant Singh and his family. The arti was performed on both days at 11:30 am, 6:30 pm and 9:30 pm.
The whole devotional program is being supervised by Jammu Waley Baba. The organizing team comprised Niraj, Pandit Abhishek Pathak, Pandit Sandip Mishra, Shubhendu Shastri Pujari and Rakesh Tripathy. Ram Katha will continue upto May 7.
