MLA Purnima Sahu’s Efforts Pay Off
Jamshedpur: MLA Purnima Sahu’s recent efforts in the Jharkhand Assembly have secured two major wins for the city: a massive upgrade to the water supply and a new flyover to ease traffic.
- Moharda Water Supply Scheme (Phase 3)
The government has granted technical approval to expand the capacity of the Water Treatment Plant (WTP).
- Project: Construction of a new 50 MLD (Million Liters per Day) Intake Well.
- Total Budget: ₹67.36 Crores.
- Funding Split (PPP Mode): * 60% funded by Tata Steel UISL (formerly JUSCO).
- 40% funded by the Jharkhand Government.
- Impact: Ensures clean drinking water for a massive portion of the city’s population once funds are released and work begins.
- Sakchi-Agrico Flyover
In-principle approval has been granted to address the chronic traffic congestion in the city’s “heart.”
- Status: Pending a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Tata Steel Limited.
- The Goal: Divert heavy vehicle traffic away from commercial hubs in Sakchi to reduce accidents and travel time.
- Next Steps: Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu confirmed that once the NOC is received, the project will move into the formal construction phase.
“These projects are a major gift to Jamshedpur, ensuring a smoother commute and better health through clean water.” — MLA Purnima Sahu
