Jamshedpur, July 15: The residents of Parsudih and Haludbani Panchayats today pledged to clean up garbage and rid their areas of polythene wastes that have not only become eye sores but also are posing major health hazards. Almost all drains are chocked with garbage as a result of which putrid water continues to overflow onto roads. Several places including Parsudih Market house huge piles of garbage. Fed up with waiting for the agencies concerned to clear the unhygienic environment, the residents of Parsudih took a pledge at Sidho-Kanhu Chowk in Haludbani that they would henceforth abstain from throwing household waste into drains but would use the waste vats provided for the purpose and would cleanse their villages of garbage and polythene wastes. A strong team of 300 residents from Parsudih and Haludbani comprising men, women, children and Panchayat officials led by Zila Parishad member Sudipto Dey Rana moved from the Sidho-Kanhu Chowk and covered Shiv Mandir Road, Triveni Chowk, Hat Bazaar and Shitla Chowk before concluding at Tilkagarh Panchayat Bhawan. Bharat Petroleum dealer Rajendra Raj and his employees offered sweets and cold water to the participants in the cleanliness drive.
The participants of Parsudih and Haludbani Panchayats also included Ramu Murmu, Ganesh Tudu, Mira Hembram, Singo Murmu, Basanti Gupta, Radha Rani Tudu, Pano Murmu, Khatri Sirka, Singo Tudu, Sita Murmu, Amit Santra, Chita Tudu, Sandhya, Akash, Jogo, Subhash Ruhidas, Sukh Lal, Parsuram Sao, Murlidhar Prasad Barnwal, Arvind Burman, Mangal Patro, Kiran, Bajo Tudu, Vinita Soren, Amit Tirkey, Babu Lal Chakraborty, Prem Karmakar, Dhatu Hembram, Ganpati Karua, Bharat Singh, Meghlal Tudu and many others.
