Jamshedpur: Sonari police have arrested a youth and sent him to judicial custody after recovering brown sugar from his possession.
The arrested accused has been identified as Shyam Thakur (28), a resident of Sonari, who was living as a tenant at the house of Kamlesh Nishad, located behind the Cinema Ground in Pardeshi Para.
During the operation, police recovered 11 packets of brown sugar weighing a total of 2 grams.
The information was shared with mediapersons by Sonari Police Station In-charge Madhusudan De.
He stated that under the leadership of the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters-II), a special team was constituted to conduct a raid.
During the raid in the Sonari Kapali Basti area, several people attempted to flee on spotting the police team, following which Shyam Thakur was apprehended.
The seized brown sugar was confiscated on the spot, and the accused was later produced before the court and sent to jail.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
