On day 1, team TSAF takes out truckload of garbage from Ganga

Jamshedpur Oct. 5 : The team members of �Mission Gange�, a Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) initiative in Partnership with National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) reached Haridwar and started the 1500-km, 4-week rafting expedition along the River Ganges on October 5.

The 40 member team of �Mission Gange� will culminate the campaign on October 30, 2018.

At Haridwar they were welcomed by Madan Kaushik, Urban Development Minister of Uttarakhand.

The team leader Bachendri Pal interacted with the local media and briefed them on the mission which is aimed to create awareness at grassroots level by cleaning the river and riverfronts and educating people about waste management, clean environment and climate change.

Team member Hemant Gupta has informed that the morale of the team is high. In the first half of the day, the team collected 2 tonnes of waste. They also held awareness sessions for children from Gayatri Vidyapeeth and Saraswati School on the importance of cleanliness and solid waste management. In the afternoon the team did the cleaning of Pantdweep Ghat and brought out one truck load of garbage from the river. The team is receiving good support from the local population, added Gupta.
