NIT Jamshedpur secures 5th Rank at International Robo-War

Jamshedpur: Team RoboAut, the official Robotics and Automation Club of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur, brought laurels to the institute by securing the 5th rank at the International Robo-War competition hosted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay. The high-profile event witnessed participation from teams across India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Russia, making the competition intense and globally competitive.

Team RoboAut designed and developed a robust combat robot. The robot drew widespread appreciation for its strength, precision, and strategic performance in the arena. Throughout the competition, the team engaged in fierce robotic battles against strong international contenders from Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Russia. Demonstrating superior engineering skills and tactical planning, Team RoboAut defeated several national and international teams, advanced to the semi-final stage, and ultimately secured the 5th position at the international level.

The achievement was the result of the dedicated efforts of team members Prashant Sharma, Souvik Nath, Debjit Gorai, Mohammad Tauqeer Zia, Mridul Akshat, and Subham, who contributed across mechanical design, fabrication, electronics, control systems, and battle strategy.

Industry collaboration played a crucial role in the team’s success. Himalaya Enterprises, Jamshedpur, and ROSA Tech extended technical support, industrial-grade resources, and financial assistance, enabling the students to design, fabricate, and rigorously test the robot in line with real-world engineering standards.

The team was guided by Prof. Goutam Sutradhar, Director, NIT Jamshedpur, and supported by Prof. Satish Kumar, Dean (Research and Consultancy), Dr P Kumar, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Dr V K Dalla, Faculty-in-Charge.

Congratulating the team, Prof. Goutam Sutradhar said that the achievement reflected the institute’s strong focus on innovation, hands-on learning, and research-oriented engineering education. He noted that the students showcased exceptional technical competence, teamwork, and determination, and expressed confidence in their future success on global platforms.
