West Singhbhum police nab two Maoist operatives in swift night operation

Manoharpur: In a major success against left-wing extremism, Manoharpur police arrested two active operatives of the banned CPI (Maoist) outfit during a surprise raid on the evening of December 23. The operation, carried out on the basis of specific intelligence inputs, has been termed a significant breakthrough in the district’s ongoing campaign against outlawed groups.

According to police sources, Sub-Inspector Mayank Prasad, along with an armed patrol team, received a tip-off about the suspicious movement of unknown individuals near Surin Tola under Nandpur village, close to the Ramdhani Chowk area. Acting swiftly, senior officials were alerted, and a police team immediately moved to the spot to verify the input.

As the police vehicle reached Surin Tola, the two suspects attempted to flee into the adjoining fields to avoid arrest. However, the alert security personnel promptly cordoned off the area and, after a brief chase, successfully apprehended both individuals.

During preliminary interrogation, the arrested persons identified themselves as Durjan Jate alias Durga Jate (29), a resident of Dimbuli Tola, Tayang Ikir, and Vimal Nag (22), a resident of Raibeda under Goilkera police station limits. A thorough search conducted in the presence of independent witnesses led to the recovery of incriminating materials. Police seized a red-colored pamphlet of the banned CPI (Maoist) organization from the possession of Durjan Jate, while a mobile phone was recovered from Vimal Nag.

Police officials stated that all arrests and seizures were carried out strictly as per legal procedures. The raiding team included the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Manoharpur, Station In-charge Ammiel Ekka, Sub-Inspector Mayank Prasad, Assistant Sub-Inspector Ranjit Murmu, and Constable Saikolan Khakha.

Both accused have been formally arrested, and further interrogation is underway to ascertain their links with Maoist networks and activities in the region. Senior police officers said the operation reflects the heightened vigilance and firm resolve of West Singhbhum police to curb the presence of banned organizations and maintain law and order in sensitive areas of the district.
