Jamshedpur: NIT Jamshedpur marked International Women’s Day with a grand event on March 8, 2025, attended by esteemed dignitaries, faculty and students. The celebration was graced by the presence of Honourable Director Prof. Gautam Sutradhar, Chief Patron and First Lady of the Institute Indrani Sutradhar, Chief Guest Prof. Vineeta Sahay (Director, IIM Bodh Gaya) and Chief Guest Alok Kumar Dubey (IAS), Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. Distinguished guests included SDM Jamshedpur Shatabdi Majumdar (IAS), Saraswati Sahay (President, ASME Auxiliary, USA) and Dr. Parimita Pari (Founder and Director, PIHA and Research Council).
The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Puja, followed by a series of cultural performances by students, including dance, song and drama presentations that celebrated the power and achievements of women.
In his address, Director Prof. Gautam Sutradhar emphasized the importance of women’s rights and empowerment in modern society. Chief Guest Alok Dubey spoke about the crucial role of women in shaping communities and the necessity of ensuring their safety, respect and equal opportunities. Prof. Vineeta Sahay highlighted gender equality and encouraged efforts toward creating a more inclusive society where women are recognized for their contributions.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Rashmi Sinha, Chairperson of the event, alongside Prof. Ashok Kumar (HOD, MME) and Dr. Madhu Singh (HOD, EE). The celebration successfully reinforced the message of women’s empowerment, equality and the need for a supportive and respectful society.
