Jamshedpur, June 12: The proposed relocation of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) office from Jamshedpur to Ranchi has sparked protests from local representatives and workers. MP representative Sanjeev Kumar, accompanied by local workers, visited the current NHAI office in Jamshedpur to register their strong opposition to the decision.
During the visit, Kumar and his team engaged in discussions with concerned officials, expressing their concerns over the potential impact of closing the local office. They argued that maintaining a local presence would facilitate better implementation and inspection of projects, ensuring timely completion of schemes.
Additionally, the representatives emphasized that having a local office would allow for prompt resolution of daily issues arising during project implementation, eliminating the need for officials and the general public to travel to Ranchi for every minor problem.
In an effort to halt the relocation process, Kumar informed the Ranchi Regional Officer (RO) about the situation and conveyed that MP Bidyut Baran Mahato is in talks with senior officials regarding the matter. He requested an immediate postponement of the transfer of the local office.
The representatives were accompanied by BJP workers, including Ravindra Singh Sisodia, Mrityunjay Singh, Animesh Sinha, Rajesh Gupta, Anand Kumar, and Mukesh Giri, who lent their support to the cause.
The proposed relocation of the NHAI office has raised concerns among local stakeholders, who fear that it may hinder the efficient execution of highway projects in the region.
