Teacher’s Son from Jamshedpur Secures all-India 620 Rank in JEE Main

Jamshedpur: Students from the city have once again demonstrated academic excellence in the results of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, announced by the National Testing Agency. Mukul Mahato, a resident of Mango’s Shankosai area, has brought pride to the Kolhan division by securing an impressive All-India Rank (AIR) of 620.

Mukul shines in percentiles, eyes IIT goal

Mukul’s outstanding performance has created a wave of celebration among his family, peers, and the wider academic community in Jamshedpur. He scored exceptionally high percentiles across all subjects—99.98 in Chemistry, 99.93 in Physics, and 99.85 in Mathematics—reflecting consistent excellence.

An alumnus of Tagore Academy, Mukul completed his Class 12 from Chinmaya Vidyalaya. He now aims to crack the highly competitive Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced and secure admission into one of the country’s top Indian Institutes of Technology, with a focus on Computer Science Engineering.

Inspiration from teacher parents and disciplined routine

Mukul credits his success to disciplined self-study and strong parental guidance. His father, Himanshu Shekhar Mahato, is a teacher at Bandhugora School in Chandil, while his mother, Rita Sinha, teaches at SS Plus Two High School in Rajnagar.

Balancing coaching with self-study, Mukul devoted around four hours daily to revision at home. A key element of his preparation strategy was solving previous years’ questions after completing each chapter, which helped him strengthen concepts and improve accuracy.

520 students from Jamshedpur qualify for JEE Advanced

This year, around 4,500 students from multiple examination centres across Jamshedpur appeared for JEE Main. Out of these, 520 students have qualified for JEE Advanced, entering the final stage of competition for seats in IITs. Others who cleared JEE Main will seek admission to National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and other reputed engineering institutions across the country.
