Jamshedpur, Oct 16: In a key bureaucratic reshuffle, senior IAS officer Nelson Eyon Bage has been appointed as the new Divisional Commissioner of Kolhan, marking a significant administrative development for Jharkhand’s southern region.
Bage replaced Hari Kumar Keshari.
Known for his dynamic leadership and grassroots administrative experience, Bage — an officer of the Jharkhand cadre — will now oversee governance across East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts, with his headquarters at Chaibasa.
Before his new assignment, Bage served as Managing Director of the Jharkhand State Tribal Development Cooperative Federation (TRICOFED) and Project Director of the Jharkhand Tribal Development Society (JTDS).
His tenure in these roles earned him recognition for advancing tribal empowerment, livelihood promotion, and rural infrastructure initiatives.
As Kolhan Divisional Commissioner, Bage is expected to prioritize tribal welfare, infrastructure improvement, administrative efficiency, and inclusive growth.
The region — home to industrial hubs like Jamshedpur and resource-rich forest areas of West Singhbhum — requires a careful balance between development and ecological preservation.
Senior government sources said Bage’s appointment reflects the state’s intent to bring a results-oriented approach to regional administration.
His experience in implementing welfare programs and co-ordinating multi-district initiatives is likely to play a crucial role in expediting state-led projects under the Kolhan Development Mission.
With this appointment, the Jharkhand government aims to strengthen governance delivery at the divisional level and ensure faster, more accountable implementation of flagship schemes.
