Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur West candidate, Banna Gupta, reaffirmed his dedication to workers’ welfare, expressing pride in his long-standing commitment to their interests. Speaking at a meeting organized by the Jusco Labour Union, Gupta highlighted Jamshedpur’s unique legacy as an industry-based city where Labour and management share a harmonious relationship. “For nearly a century, Tata Steel’s Jamshedpur plants have seen no strikes, thanks to mutual respect and cooperation between management and workers,” he remarked, emphasizing the rare balance achieved in the city.
Gupta underscored his own journey, sharing that his career began by advocating for unorganized workers and that he remains resolute in supporting their rights. He voiced confidence that the workers of Jamshedpur, who have backed him in the past, would continue to stand by him.
Jusco Labour Union President Raghunath Pandey echoed Gupta’s sentiments, criticizing the NDA government for its perceived anti-Labour policies. Pandey condemned the government’s recent Labour law reforms, claiming they have weakened job security, enabling employers to dismiss workers without cause. He also highlighted the ongoing protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over EPS 95, where Labour groups have demanded a minimum pension of ₹7500 plus DA and free medical aid for over eight years with no response from the government.
Pandey urged labour leaders to rally for Gupta’s victory, suggesting a win for the India Alliance would empower workers’ voices from the state to the national level. The meeting was attended by several Labour leaders, including Amarnath Tiwari, E Satish Kumar, Triveni Prasad, Parshuram Mishra, Kamal Kishore Agarwal, and many others, all united in their call for workers’ rights.
