National Coaching Course for Shooting Concludes in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: A seven-day National Coaches Course for shooting successfully concluded in the city, marking a significant step toward strengthening grassroots coaching in the sport. The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) and the Jharkhand State Rifle Association (JSRA) jointly organized the intensive training program.

Technical Excellence and Elite Mentorship

A total of 33 participants from five states attended the course, including 19 coaches from Jharkhand. The program focused on integrating technical shooting expertise with modern sports science to enhance coaching quality.

Leading figures from the sport conducted the technical sessions, including:

  • Sanjeev Rajput: Olympian and Indian team coach.

  • Vidya Jadav: National coach.

Participants received advanced training in weapon handling, precision shooting techniques, error correction, and international competition preparation.

A Multidisciplinary Approach to Sports Science

The course stood out for its holistic focus on athlete development. Specialist instructors led sessions on several critical pillars of sports science:

  • Sports Psychology: Nanaki Chadha focused on mental well-being and athlete confidence.

  • Nutrition: Charvi Bajaj guided participants on diet planning, hydration, and recovery.

  • Strength & Conditioning: Vijendra Pal Singh emphasized posture, stability, and endurance.

  • Anatomy & Biomechanics: PN Vineel Kumar detailed the physical mechanics of the sport.

  • Communication: Salil Srivastava highlighted the vital link between coaches and athletes.

Path to Certification

The program concluded with a formal examination to assess participant learning. However, the NRAI will only award official certifications after coaches complete a two-month practical field project working directly with athletes. The second phase of the program will also take place in Jamshedpur, where participants will present their field findings.

JSRA President Diwakar Singh reaffirmed his commitment to hosting regular initiatives in Jharkhand to elevate local coaching standards. This program aligns with the NRAI’s broader vision to develop scientifically trained coaches who will secure the future of shooting sports in India.
