National Lok Adalat: 6,445 cases settled

Seraikela, May 13: As per the directives of National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) and the Jharkhand Legal Services Authority (JHLSA) National Lok Adalat was organized on Saturday at the Saraikela Civil Court and Sub Divisional Court in Chandil.  Six benches in Saraikela Civil Court and two benches in the Chandil Sub Divisional Court settled 6,445 cases including 560 pending cases. Among the cases settled were 5,885 pre-litigation. Rs Four crore were realized as government revenue during the National Lok Adalat.

The cases settled today pertained to bank, excise, electricity bill disputes, criminal and compoundable and cases of other nature. More than one lakh beneficiaries in the district were identified and assets worth Rs 24 crore were distributed among them.

The National Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Principal District and Sessions Judge Vijay Kumar, Principal Judge Family Court, District Judge I, District Judge II, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate, District Judge I of Chandil Court, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate and Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate, President, Vice President and Secretary of the District Bar Association. On this occasion, along with the President, Vice-President, Secretary and other senior advocates of the District Bar Association, other judicial officers and employees of the Civil Court were also present.

Expressing gratitude to all the departments on this occasion, Principal District and Sessions Judge Vijay Kumar asked people to participate in large numbers and take advantage of Lok Adalat. Kumar Kranti Prasad, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), explained  the utility of the Lok Adalat and quick execution of cases.

Deputy Commissioner Arava Rajkamal said that various cases pending for many years would be disposed of at the National Lok Adalat.

He said that in the next National Lok Adalat program more people would be get the benefit of several schemes. He said that a complaint box would be provided at the DLSA office for applicants deprived of the benefits of government schemes. Superintendent of Police Anand Prakash said that the National Lok Adalat was the court of the people. The cases pending for many years will be executed during the National Lok Adalat.
