Kidnapping executed in fake police uniform

The case dates back to January 13, 2026, when Kairav Gandhi was abducted near the Sonari-Kadma Link Road roundabout in Bistupur. The criminals carried out the operation while posing as police personnel, a tactic that created panic and outrage across the city.

Victim released after 13 days under pressure

Following sustained pressure and extensive search operations by the police, the kidnappers abandoned the victim on January 27 along the Choparan-Barhi road after keeping him in captivity for nearly two weeks. The accused fled the scene immediately after releasing him.

Encounter and key recoveries during probe

During the investigation, police teams also engaged in an armed encounter near the Bistupur Sai Temple, where three suspects sustained injuries. Authorities recovered the Scorpio vehicle used in the crime, along with two country-made pistols and several mobile phones.

Identification strengthens prosecution case

In a crucial development, the victim has successfully identified the arrested accused during a Test Identification Parade (TIP). Police officials believe this identification will play a vital role in securing convictions as the case proceeds in court.

Officials affirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accused and ensure that all those involved are brought to justice.
