NABARD committed to rural development, women empowerment: Dr Chintala

NABARD chairman reviews development projects in Patamada, Nimdih

Jamshedpur/Seraikela, March 4: NABARD chairman Dr G R Chintala Friday visited several villages in Patamada, Seraikela and Kharsawan to review the implementation of various development projects. He also witnessed the distribution of bank loans worth Rs 10.69 crores among the self help groups, dairy farmers and agricultural production outfits of East Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan.

Chintala said NABARD was committed to the development of rural areas and empowerment of women. Expressing satisfaction over the progress of various projects, he assured to provide every possible help to the stakeholders on a priority basis.

The NABARD chairman laid the foundation of two new water conservation projects, one tribal development programme and one climate change project. He also inaugurated a solar-powered spices and pulses processing unit and an FPO in Patamada.

The loans were distributed by Bank of India and Jharkhand State Gramin Bank. More than 1000 beneficiaries were present on this occasion.

Chintala reviewed several schemes jointly funded by NABARD and Tata Steel Foundation in some villages of Seraikela and Kharsawan. He inspected a drip irrigation facility across 17 acres of land in Rangamatia village.

The chairman further inaugurated a community facility centre built with a grant of Rs 25 lakh under Farm Producer Organization Scheme for the benefit of 216 handicraft artisans of 11 Nimdih villages in Seraikela-Kharsawan. He said the handicrafts of Sabars were now being sold on various e-commerce platforms.

In Seraikela-Kharsawan, Chintala inspected Bari project funded jointly by NABARD and Tata Steel Foundation. He visited several villages of Gamharia where large areas are being developed into a horticulture hub. He said increasing the income of farmers was the main objective. He sat on cot to interact with the farmers. He was accorded traditional welcome in Rangamatia.

Other dignitaries present on the occasion included Sushila Chintala, CGM, MD and CEO, NAB Kisan Privated Limited, Dr GK Nayar, CGM, NABARD, Gautam Kumar Singh, GM, NABARD and others.
