Jamshedpur: Several trains traveling via Tatanagar have been hit following heavy rains in Mumbai along with derailment of a goods train. The derailment of a goods train took place took place last night in South East Ghat section of Mumbai railway division under Central Railway Zone.
Garden Reach, the headquarters of Kolkata-based South Eastern Railway notified cancellation of 12810 Howrah-Mumbai Mail today. Another train 12262 Howrah-Mumbai (CSMT) Duronto Express was also cancelled today. Both, the trains run via Tatangar railway station.
SER had also announced cancellation of 12222 Howrah-Pune Duronto Express on July 4. But, later took back the order. The train will run as usual from Howrah on June 4, said a railway spokesperson.
Station director H K Balmuchu said a separate counter was opened at the Tatanagar railway station today for helping passengers to refund tickets. “We have been informed that situation was improving in Mumbai. Hence, tomorrow’s trains for Mumbai will run as per schedule,” he said.
Meanwhile, another circular issued by SER this afternoon announced cancellation of several trains till July 31 in view of safety related work in Rourkela-Bilaspur-Jharsuguda sections.
Some of the trains which will remain cancelled include Sambalpur-Rourkela MEMU Passenger, Jharsuguda-Sambalpur MEMU Passenger, Rourkela-Sambalpur MEMU Passenger Rourkela-Jharsuguda MEMU Passenger, Jharsuguda-Hatia Passenger, Tatanagar-Bilaspur Passenger and Sambalpur-Jharsuguda MEMU Passenger.
Located on the Howrah-Mumbai main route Tatanagar is an important station. Several important trains travel via Tatanagar, including the high-profile Rajdhani Express and Duronto Express. The station sees a daily traffic of 90 mail, express and passenger trains, besides a footfall of more than 60,000 passengers.
