Soumitra Majumdar takes charge as GM of South Eastern Railway

Jamshedpur, April 1 : Soumitra Majumdar has assumed charge as the General Manager of South Eastern Railway with effect from today, April 1.
Prior to this appointment, he was serving as the Additional General Manager of the same zone.
A senior officer of the Indian Railways Traffic Service from the 1989 examination batch, Majumdar brings with him decades of rich and diverse experience in railway administration.
Over the course of his distinguished career, he has held several key positions, including Principal Chief Commercial Manager of Eastern Railway and Chief Passenger Transportation Manager as well as Chief Traffic Planning Manager of South Eastern Railway. Notably, he has also served extensively as Chief Public Relations Officer in both Eastern Railway and South Eastern Railway, gaining significant expertise in media management and public engagement.
Majumdar will oversee the responsibilities of General Manager until a regular incumbent is appointed.
Known for his in-depth knowledge of railway operations, commercial strategies, and public relations, he is expected to contribute significantly to the continued growth and efficiency of South Eastern Railway.
Beyond his professional commitments, Majumdar has a keen interest in sports, music, travel, and cultural activities.
He has actively participated in various programmes and previously served as the President of the Eastern Railway Sports Association, reflecting his dynamic personality and leadership beyond the administrative sphere.
