Jamshedpur, April 1: Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for the construction of five new classrooms at the CM School of Excellence (Girls) located in Garamnala, Sakchi.
The project, sanctioned under the Jharkhand Education Project Council, Ranchi, will be executed at an estimated cost of Rs 86.97 lakh.
Recalling the school’s transformation, Roy said that in 2014 the institution had barely 50 students and was on the verge of closure. At that time, the then headmistress approached him seeking support. He extended assistance and facilitated several developmental initiatives to revive the school.
To encourage academic excellence, Roy had announced that students securing 80 percent or more marks would be rewarded with bicycles.
Around 35 students benefitted from the initiative, which helped boost morale and enrollment.
Highlighting the school’s remarkable progress, Roy noted that it now has nearly 900 students and has earned recognition at the national level. Recently, the school secured the top position at a major event held in Karnataka.
Apart from academic achievements, it has also been ranked first in the country in cleanliness.
The newly sanctioned classrooms are expected to further strengthen the school’s infrastructure and support its growing student base.
